GIRTEKA LOGISTICS DRIVERS ACADEMY TEACHERS WIN THE VOLVO TRUCKS DRIVER CHALLENGE 2018 LITHUANIA!

Vygintas Vitkauskas – Girteka Logistics teacher-instructor is the champion of Volvo Trucks Driver Challenge 2018.

All participants of the finals of the Drivers Challenge 2018 Lithuania had to cover a planned route as economically as possible and perform precise manoeuvring tasks with a Volvo FH logger at the Kuršėnai racetrack in Šiauliai, where the finals of Volvo Trucks Driver Challenge Lithuania took place.

It was a challenging competition that our Drivers’ Academy teachers overcame without any major difficulties and won the prizes in all the top three positions! This is a great example that proves Girteka Logistics drivers are taught by real professionals.

“It was my first time in this type of competition. Do not think that, as they say, it’s the novice’s success – I have been driving a truck since childhood (I started with my father’s help). I was not particularly preparing for this competition, but every day teaching others to drive safely and economically has helped because I also see my own mistakes and spots to be improved. When we learn not only from our own mistakes, but also from the mistakes of others, we improve faster. I will now go to the finals in Sweden and I hope to surpass my expectations there as well,” said first place winner Vygintas Vitkauskas when sharing his impressions.

The winner of the competition, Vygintas will represent Lithuania on September 13-14 at Volvo Trucks Driver Challenge 2018 in Gothenburg, Sweden. He will be competing there with 36 of the best drivers from all over the world to showcase top-class skills for World Champion title. The two-day event, which will combine driving challenges and a good time, will take place at the Volvo Trucks Experience Centre. We congratulate our champion and send our support and wish him success in Sweden.
