Girteka Logistics has chosen Goodyear as its main tire partner for the 4,000 trucks and 4,300 trailers it operates on its pan-European freight services. The partnership means that Goodyear tires will be supplied to cover 80% of requirements of the fleet, which includes two and three axle tractor units and mainly refrigerated tri-axle trailers, along with a growing number of tilt trailers.
The Lithuanian-based company, which has grown from a one-truck operation just over 20 years ago, now delivers annually more than 320,000 full truckloads of goods to all corners of Europe.
“We carried out a detailed evaluation of a variety of tire brands with a focus on cost per kilometer,” said Mr. Kristian Kaas Mortensen, Girteka Logistics, CCO. “Based on the results of that program, we have made the decision to use mainly Goodyear tires for our more than 8,000 trucks and trailers.”
As part of its tire management strategy, Girteka Logistics is planning to install a Goodyear Drive-Over-Reader at its largest depot in Siauliai, Lithuania. This state-of-the art automated tire inspection technology quickly and easily checks the tire pressures, tread depths and weights of each vehicle every time it enters or exits the depot.
The Drive-over-Reader-technology is part of Goodyear Proactive Solutions, which is a full suite of Vehicle-To-Fleet operations management solutions supported by predictive analytics technology. Goodyear Proactive Solutions allows fleet owners to better manage operating costs by improving:
• vehicle and fleet performance by detecting issues before they happen
