OUR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Safety on the road
As Europe’s largest asset-based transport company, with a fleet of more than 6.500 trucks and a community of nearly 10.000 professional drivers, we understand the impact we have on road safety – and the responsibility that comes with it. That’s why we take a comprehensive approach to road safety: investing in modern vehicles, developing our drivers’ skills, and educating the public. We believe safer roads are created when everyone shares responsibility.
Modern Fleet
Drivers’ Education
Safe driving is a continuous process. Through the Girteka Drivers Academy, we prepare new drivers and develop the competencies of our nearly 10.000-driver community. Training combines theory, practical exercises, and modern driving simulators, covering everything from safe driving and first aid to cargo security, eco-driving, new technologies, and many other aspects of professional driving.
Since 2018, we have been running the Eco League – our internal programme that encourages drivers to continuously improve their driving habits. By combining regular performance monitoring, practical coaching, and financial incentives, the programme promotes smoother, safer, and more fuel-efficient driving. These everyday habits help reduce accident risks, lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions, while ensuring safer and more reliable transport for our customers and everyone sharing the road.
Educational Campaign "Be Safe on the Road"
Since 2020, our Be Safe on the Road campaign has been educating the wider public about safe behaviour around heavy goods vehicles. Running every year, the campaign brings together a range of initiatives that raise awareness, share practical knowledge, and promote safer roads for everyone.
Through media partnerships, educational content, interactive experiments, and road safety tests, we help people better understand the realities of sharing the road with trucks.
We also engage younger audiences through our Road Safety Caravan, which visits schools and city festivals across Lithuania. There, children can step inside a truck to experience the driver’s perspective and understand blind spots, learn about visibility in the Reflector Zone, and reinforce their knowledge through specially designed workbooks and educational lessons.
