Girteka continues to develop its Scandinavian business as an important part of its European transport network. The region has been part of the company’s international development for more than 20 years, and today Girteka sees clear opportunities to build further on its strong local expertise, owned fleet and European scale.

“Scandinavia remains strategically important to our European business, and we continue to take full responsibility for developing and strengthening our operations in the region. We are committed to building a strong and sustainable business here for the long term. By combining local expertise with Girteka’s scale, owned fleet and European network, we can provide our customers with reliable capacity, strong operational control and high service quality in both directions,” says Pavel Kveten, CEO of Girteka Logistics.

More than 10 years ago, Girteka expanded its local capabilities through the acquisition of Thermo-Transit and ThermoMax in Norway and Denmark. This brought deep local market knowledge, domestic transportation capabilities and strong expertise in temperature-controlled logistics into Girteka’s wider European network.

“Girteka brings scale that is difficult to build locally,” says Mirza Sabanovic, CEO of Thermo-Transit. “Combined with strong Scandinavian expertise, this gives us opportunities to serve existing customers, create new business opportunities and respond faster to what the market needs.”

Today, Girteka transports around 30% of the fish volumes moving from Norway to continental Europe and is the largest carrier of salmon and white fish on these routes. At the same time, its European network provides reliable import capacity into the region, serving customers across food, retail and other temperature-controlled and high-value cargo segments. This two-way flow is an important strength of the Scandinavian business, helping customers secure capacity and reliable service throughout the year.

Girteka is backing this direction with financial, operational and technological support. On 31 August 2026 the Group provided EUR 20 million in additional capital to Thermo-Transit Danmark A/S, reinforcing its financial position and supporting long-term development. New ERP and TMS are also being introduced to improve visibility, processes and operational control.

Local operations are becoming more focused on their core expertise and customer needs. A simpler operating model, better fleet utilisation and improved cargo flows through the Oslo and Padborg terminals are supporting greater efficiency and a clearer focus on key European transport corridors.

Together, these steps create a stronger foundation for further growth, combining experienced local teams with Girteka’s European scale and a clear direction for the Scandinavian business.
