Girteka, Europe’s largest asset-based logistics company, is strengthening its presence in Germany by opening a new company-owned truck maintenance facility in Coesfeld. The investment is part of the company’s long-term strategy to bring maintenance services closer to its main transport routes and customers, improve operational efficiency and strengthen its ability to provide reliable transport capacity across Europe.

According to Girteka Group CEO Edvardas Liachovičius, the new facility is part of a broader European maintenance network designed to support efficient transport operations and deliver reliable, high-quality services to customers. It follows the opening of a company-operated maintenance facility in Padborg, Denmark, in May 2026, as Girteka continues to invest in its own infrastructure across key European transport markets.

“Our business operates across Europe, and our maintenance infrastructure needs to follow. This is especially important in temperature-controlled and high-value cargo transportation, where reliability is critical. Our brand promise, ‘Our Fleet. Our Responsibility.’, reflects our approach to managing our own fleet and taking responsibility for its performance. By investing in maintenance facilities closer to our transport operations, we gain greater control over costs, maintenance quality and vehicle availability, strengthening our ability to provide reliable capacity across Europe,” says Edvardas Liachovičius, CEO of Girteka Group.

Greater operational efficiency and less downtime

With a fleet of more than 6,500 trucks and 8,000 semi-trailers, Girteka is developing its own maintenance network to reduce reliance on external providers, avoid unnecessary travel and improve vehicle availability.

The new facility in Coesfeld has the capacity to service up to 10 truck-and-trailer combinations or 20 trucks simultaneously. It also features an on-site TÜV inspection line, allowing vehicles to undergo mandatory technical inspections directly at the facility.

“At our scale, even relatively small improvements in maintenance efficiency can make a significant difference. Our own facilities give us greater control over maintenance schedules, service quality and costs, helping us minimise downtime and return vehicles to operation faster,” explains Edvin Darvid, Head of Global Maintenance at Girteka Transport.

The Coesfeld facility has started operations with a team of 10 employees. Girteka plans to gradually increase its service capacity and workforce in line with operational demand.

Further expansion planned in Western Europe

Girteka will continue evaluating additional locations in Western Europe, prioritising areas with high fleet activity, strategic transport corridors and opportunities to improve maintenance efficiency.

Through these investments, Girteka aims to improve fleet availability, strengthen operational efficiency and maintain consistent service quality for customers across Europe.
